I can hear a plane flying over and above. do you ever imagine what it would be like to witness it crash,... like have it flying straight for you? (i know horrible random thought).
and you should hear the birds lately.... chirping like crazy little mad lovers.
So I thought my blog was in a need of an update.
Its so great to have the change of season hit. I've been biking my tush around the city and I feel like TODAY was the day I actually felt a little bit in shape. Ahhhhh. No longer gasping for woops of air after climbing up a semi-steep hill. Those road bikers still kick my A,... (probably forever and always) but none the less it's getting increasingly easier. Yes, a pat on the back would be great.
I've been reading a book by Bukowski called Tales of Ordinary Madess. Good good read. I can thank my buddy Beau for that (kind of stole it from his bathroom... don't worry Beau, I'm almost finished!) Anyway, Tales of Ordinary Madness is a bunch of short stories by Bukowski in which each story has a great brutally honest point of view..... someone is usually drunk (I'm thinking it was Bukowski, idk)...
I also read a book by Nicole Helget (sleepy eye native, which is my homeland).. its called the Turtle Catcher... I highly recommend it,.. I finished it in almost 3 days. Good good good read. She also has another book I read called Summer of Ordinary Ways. Her writing is extremely visual.
OH and not to forget another book I received from a friend called "Everyday Clairvoyant" by Cyndi Dale. Another booked I almost finished in 8 hours,.. its now in CA with my sis... speaking of
here is my sis on her way back to LA (she took a hella awesome job offer working for the E! network as an assistant stylist, just tooting my horn for her... what? whatever, i'm proud!)
(side note: she also shipped 2 boxes of items out as well!) ;)
OK, this is has put me into photo share::::: (I honestly have been doing more than reading and biking).... i went bowling... check out this perfect form by Mr. Blaufuss.
(side note: i'm horrible at bowling,... rarely hit past score 100)
The spring has also been a little tragic.... this is my cousins backyard in New Ulm, MN. (wowzers!) Looks like a scene from Oh Brother Where Art Thou!?
Other than this and that, I've been listening to Dr. Dogs almost non-stop. Their new album, off of pandora, and live this coming Saturday. I also just recently saw the Watson Twins (kudos to A. Schmidt for that!)=== their harmonies were SO. SPOT. ON. loved it.
thats about it kids. go hit it!
peace. love.

my continual wait for Spring, 2010.
It feels like I've been traveling for hours and hours without any restroom break and when I finally get to a rest stop, there is a huge line and I'm stuck waiting once again. At least that is how it feels like today, March 1st, 2010. Spring. I've been obsessing about it. I know its going to get sloppy, but hey, I have some sweet red boots from a Chicago thrift store I bought last spring while on tour... they keep my feet all warm AND dry,.... (although they kinda look like something I would had worn when I was 12 and they might be a tad too big, just a tad).... check em out! Little red clod hoppers.
So I'm kind of on this renewed photo taking remaking rekindling of the connection phase. I've been getting outside more often as well. I wonder how my friends in "warmer" regions feel about that last sentence. "I've been getting outside more often".... meaning I'm outside longer than the walk to from my place to the car...... Feels good. I am excited for the transformation process. Getting on my bike and getting this quarter of a century body back in forward motion. Idk how well of a hermit I would be if I lived in CA weather.

But back to my renewed photo taking crash course I've been on. I know its because I received a new phone and it has a pretty great camera on it.
So people, a week in the life of Stacy K. Here are some photos taken from it:
My coffee cup at about 5AM. It always runs out and cold far too soon.
I took a mini trip to Southern MN. The snow seems to be melting quicker there.... I feel this photo looks B&W quality, but the little pinch of blue sky just shows how drab, how so drab....
This was an interesting choice... but very good. Some kind of scallop creation.
Mmm. Food. ... I came back to MPLS and spent in a little time to soak up the sun
and take photos of my shadow
. Later that day, I played a show and spent the after hours chatting about useful nonsense with my friends.

Soon enough the after hours won't begin at 9PM and the balance between night and day will be, well balanced I guess. Until then, I'll wear my sunglasses at night. (although, obviously this was during the day).

Cheers people.

the rear view mirror
Who ever said winter was suppose to be silent?? While sitting here, my phone has buzzed three times, I can hear my housemates dog barking, and the refrigerator's continuous hum almost becomes this droning harmony. Maybe all the noise is just a sign it really IS nearing the end of Ol' Winter here in Minneapolis, Minnesota. People keep saying to me, "just one more month, its in the rear view mirror now". I can look forward to that.
But thats not to say I haven't been enjoying these frigid cold months!

Thankfully it has become more bearable to be outside and I'm not wearing 5 layers of clothing (i think i'm down to 2 or 3). One night after hanging out with a friend, I wandered home and stumbled upon this poor poor little ol' snowman. I have entitled 'Winter Gone Wrong' (which could turn into a really cheesy winter horror flick)......
Sad but true, I have yet to see St. Paul's Winter Carnival. I've only lived in MN my entire life.... c'mon! (although that statement makes me wanna jump out of my skin). The photo below was outside of Great Waters Brewery in downtown St. Paul (where the carnival is located)... maybe the photo should be called King of Winter?

i dig the fire above the chair. so hot its cold.
So as the snow starts melting, I can reflect on this winter for being what it always has been. A season that kinda wears out its welcome. Always good to see, but stays far too long. But then again as it begins to leave, I sometime get a sense of sadness, like saying to a lover PLEASE DONT GO!........ Agh, come on, who am I kidding. The end of winter reminds me of a breakup, it lingers til it changes.
Here's the change I'm looking forward to:
Remember, only one more month. Its all in the rear view mirror now.

Here's the change I'm looking forward to:
-planting a garden in my back yard
-wearing sunglasses until 9pm
-wearing only one (or 2) layers
-rain storm and record player
-walking outside barefoot, coffee in hand, pj's still on
-breathing deep, aaaaaaaah.

Food Inc and The Cove
Tonight I work an overnight shift... I do enjoy my job, but I have to say tonight I am not feeling the whole "stay up til 8am" thang. Although, I have accomplished the all nighter many a time without getting paid for it. I guess it gives me some good time to research subjects I enjoy or am interested in. A few have been hot my list for conversations with friends.... "Food Inc" and "The Cove". Both great documentaries about the world around us. Food Inc is simply amazing. Such an eye opening documentary about how food is produced in the masses for the US. It literally makes me want to plant a garden this Spring (which I plan on seriously doing THIS year... I say that cuz I've said it for the past 3 years)... I feel having a green thumb is more of a generational thang that I haven't dived into yet. Decades upon decades of gardens, canning, and cellars full of "pickled" items in my family. Food Inc kind of makes me want to own my own personal chicken, cow, and pig! Haha, obviously that won't happen, but it certainly has motivated me to be more picky within my eating, where I purchase items from, ect ect ect. Basically what I'm trying to say is YOU SHOULD WATCH Food Inc :)
Now, The Cove is a whole separate bag... its about the mass murdering of Dolphins happening across seas. Another interesting documentary. Makes me want to watch more on these subjects and gives me a yearning to be a part of some kind of change. I've discussed this with friends via facebook and have been able to create a bit of a list of documentaries for more self and world awareness. Maybe this overnight won't be so long after all.
Well thats it for now. Don't knock it til you watch it.... and I'm also interested in what you people think about these subjects, esp after you give it a bit of your time.
Be well!

We're Not Taking This Too Lightly (and my need to drop F bombs)
Look out,... wait stop.
Hey man, you know you're fucking crazy!
Got locked inside the bottle,
and now I'm swimming in brandy.
No wait, break all the rules
break into the penitentiary.
We are not taking this too lightly.
Its 5AM.
Tell me what was your name again?
It won't matter much,
or until the bait is thrown out again.
Oh now you're laughing,
I must be so fucking funny.
We are not taking this too lightly.
We are not taking this too lightly.
And now I see the moon,
his face looking down at me.
Hey man, I agree!
I'm not sure what I did to me.
Its all over now, get up!
Hey, get the fuck off of me!
We're not taking this too lightly.

i dig this
At some point, "Stop complaining about free promotion!" rings hollow if all that 'free' promotion doesn't pay the bills. In other words, you can only give away so much product before your inability to sell it leaves you wondering whether or not you have a product worth creating in the first place.

You Must Be Trying...
Either this is going to become a song or it will forever just be this..... just sharing.
You Must Be Trying by Stacy K.
The stairway was dark
with only a small light on down the hallway.
I could see the reflection of Jesus
hanging in the mirror.
And if the Son was able to die for my sins then,
what the hell am i doing wrong here?
And out the window all the trees were blowing
All their leaves were falling like snow from the sky.
I felt that maybe if I could jump right in,
I could loose this feeling,
jump out and fly.
Cuz when I said I didn't care I was lying
You must be trying to break my heart.
& when I fell I swear a bird was in my chest I,
felt like a paper bag thrown to the ground.
I rolled around until my mind was sure I,
should jump the bus and get out of town.
Cuz when I said I didn't love you I was lyin
I was trying to bring you down.
with only a small light on down the hallway.
